Let’s start with the African countries that start with A. There are two of them.
Algeria is in the far north of the continent. It is directly opposite both France and Spain. Remember, there is the Mediterranean Sea between Africa and Europe.
Angola is a bit further south. If you look at a map of Africa, then you should easily be able to locate South Africa. This is the southern most country on the continent. Working your way up on the west of the map, you will have Namibia, and just above that is Angola.
European Countries that Start with A
There are two countries in Europe that start with an A.
Albania is to the west of Greece. It overlooks the Adriatic Sea. This is the small ocean to the east of Italy.
Austria is located next to Germany and Hungary.
Asian Countries that Start with A

We know that there are some people that will claim that ‘America’ is also a country that begins with A. However, you should remember that the official name of the country is the United States of America, so it doesn’t quite fit the standard.
Other Countries that Start with A
We have three more countries that start with A that don’t quite fit into any of the other categories.
Australia is, of course, on a contingent alongside New Zealand and a few smaller islands. This continent is called Australasia, Oceania, or Australia, depending on who you ask.
Armenia and Azerbaijan could have fit into both the European and the Asian parts of this list. Without getting into the geography of it all, mainland Europe and Asia are joined up. The immediate intersection between the two continents is known as Eurasia. Any country located there can be said to be in both Europe and in Asia. So, if you want a bit of extra knowledge, then know that both Armenia and Azerbaijan fit the bill there.
