For parents and teachers

Can my child do the test alone?

Children from about seven can. Younger children do it with an adult who reads the instructions; the words in each question are for the child to read.

Is the audio reading the answers?

No. Only the instructions are read aloud. Reading the text itself is the test.

What is R1 to R29?

The 29 levels of the 7ESL Reading library, from one word a page to long chapter books. Each level has its own shelf of books with audio and a quiz.

What if the level feels too easy or too hard?

Move one level up or down. The steps are small, and the quiz after each book shows when it is time to move on.

Is this the same as the CEFR Reading Level Test?

No. That test is for teens and adults and gives a CEFR badge. This one finds the right book for a young reader.
