How to use the Essay Checker
Paste an essay of between 20 and 800 words into the box, choose the essay type if you know it — opinion, discussion, problem and solution, compare and contrast, or narrative — and press Check my essay. Analysis takes up to half a minute because the whole essay is assessed at once. You can revise your draft and run it again to see whether your scores move.
Reading your feedback
The overall score gives you a quick sense of where the essay stands, and the four criterion bars show where the marks were won and lost. Each criterion comes with feedback written in plain teacher language and two to four actionable suggestions. The top fixes section quotes the most damaging errors exactly as you wrote them, next to an improved version, so you can correct your own text line by line. The rewritten paragraph shows your weakest paragraph next to a stronger version at the same level of formality, with a short note on what changed.
