Part 1 — Interview
The examiner asks you some questions about yourself. Phase 1: short answers. Phase 2: "Tell me something about…" — give a longer answer.
- What's your name? How do you spell your surname? Example: My name's Carla Moreno. You spell my surname M-O-R-E-N-O.
- Where do you live? Example: I live in Valencia, in Spain. My flat is near the city centre.
- What's your favourite subject at school? Why? Example: I like science best, because our teacher is really good and we do lots of experiments.
- Please tell me something about what you do after school. Example: After school I usually go home and have a snack. Then I do my homework. On Tuesdays and Thursdays I have tennis lessons, and in the evening I sometimes watch a film with my family.
- Please tell me something about a trip you went on with your school. Example: Last year my class went to a museum in the city. We went there by train. We saw lots of old things and some dinosaur bones. It was really interesting, and we had lunch in the park after that.
Part 2 — Discussion — Free-time activities
Look at the pictures of different free-time activities. Talk together: do you like these activities? Why or why not? Then answer the examiner's questions (about 5 minutes).
- Here are some pictures that show different free-time activities. Do you like these different activities? Say why or why not. You can talk together. Example: I really like playing football, because it's exciting and I can play with my friends. I don't like reading very much. It's a bit boring for me. What about you? Do you like riding a bike?
- Do you think playing video games is fun? Example: Yes, I do. I play video games with my brother at the weekend. But I don't play every day, because my mum says it's bad for my eyes.
- Which of these activities do you like best? Why? Example: I like playing the guitar best. I'm not very good yet, but I love music and I practise every evening.
- Do you prefer spending your free time with your friends or with your family? Why? Example: I prefer spending it with my friends, because we like the same things. But on Sundays I go for a walk with my family, and that's nice too.
- Do you prefer doing things inside or outside? Why? Example: Outside, when the weather is good. I love going to the park and riding my bike. When it rains, I stay at home and watch films.
