The four IELTS papers

IELTS Academic is made up of four papers, exactly as in the real exam. You can sit a whole test or practise one paper at a time:

How IELTS is scored

IELTS is reported as a band score from 1 to 9. On 7ESL, Listening and Reading give an instant practice score, while Writing and Speaking are not auto-marked — instead you get Band 7, 8 and 9 sample answers with examiner-style commentary so you can see exactly what raises a band.

What is in the IELTS Academic test?

IELTS Academic has four parts: Listening (4 sections, 40 questions), Reading (3 passages, 40 questions), Writing (Task 1 — describe a graph or process; Task 2 — an essay) and Speaking (a three-part interview).

How many IELTS practice tests are there?

There are 18 free full-length IELTS Academic practice tests on 7ESL, each covering all four parts with original passages, audio and writing/speaking tasks.

How is IELTS scored?

IELTS gives a band score from 1 to 9. Here, Listening and Reading are auto-marked for a practice score, and Writing & Speaking come with Band 7, 8 and 9 model answers plus commentary so you understand how each band is reached.
