Tomatoes
In Jordanian and Palestinian cuisine, Galayet bandura (or Qalayet bandora) is a dish consisting of fresh tomatoes stewed with onions, peppers, olive oil, and salt. It is served with warm pita bread and is noted for its healthy ingredients.
Tuna
In Japanese cuisine, Tekkadon is a rice-bowl (donburi) dish that is comprised of thinly sliced tuna sashimi (raw fish meat) served on top of steamed rice. The tuna may be marinated in soy sauce, mirin, and sake, and can be garnished with sesame seeds, seaweed, and spring onions.
Turnips
Turnips are the root of the Brassica rapa species of plant, it is related to vegetables such as napa cabbage and bok choy. In northern England, Scotland, Ireland, and some Canadian provinces, “turnips” refer to larger root vegetables otherwise known as rutabagas.
Tacos
In Mexican cuisine, specifically that of the Baja California region, Tacos de Camaron refers to shrimp tacos. These tacos usually consist of grilled or fried shrimp served in a corn tortilla and garnished with cilantro, lime, onion, chipotle, avocado, lettuce, and/or mayonnaise-based sauces.
Tiramisu
In Italian, the word tiramisu means “cheer me up” or “pick me up”. This is a dessert dish that consists of ladyfingers soaked in rum, liqueur, and espresso and layered with a filling made with sugar, eggs, and mascarpone cheese. The dessert is then dusted with cocoa powder on top.
Tortellini
Tortellini originates from the Emilia region of northern Italy. Though commonly associated with a cheese filling, tortellini are traditionally filled with nutmeg, egg, pork meat, and parmesan cheese. These small pasta dumplings are then served in chicken broth.
Tempura
Tempura is a Japanese dish that dates back at least to the 16th century — Portuguese missionaries were said to demonstrate to the Japanese how to deep-fry batter-covered fritters. These origins are disputed, but tempura remains a lasting way to cook shrimp, yam, squash, and other vegetables.
Tagliatelle
Tagliatelle is an Italian ribbon pasta traditionally made into noodle strips about a third of an inch wide. The noodles are made from egg-based dough and are often served with foods such as meat sauces, butter, cheese, pesto, tomato-based sauces, mushroom-based sauces, and seafood.
Tempeh
In Indonesian cuisine, tempeh is a food made from caked fermented soybeans. A common dish that uses tempeh is tempeh goreng, which is sliced tempeh mixed with garlic, coriander seeds, turmeric, salt, and kaffir leaves, and then deep-fried.
Tofu
In Korean cuisine, Dubu-kimchi is a dish of pork cooked with onions, ginger, scallions, soy sauce, sugar, chili peppers, and kimchi, then served on top of boiled (and then sliced) tofu.
Truffles
Truffles are a kind of underground fungi; they are part of the Tuber genus of the larger Tuberaceae fungi family. Truffles are found to grow near tree roots — and animals such as dogs and hogs are used to find them.
