What is the difference between a semicolon and a dash?
I’m confused about the difference between a semicolon and a dash. What is each one used for, and can I use one instead of the other?

A semicolon (;) connects two closely related complete sentences and usually sounds more formal. (I was tired; I still finished my homework.)
A dash (—), on the other hand, adds emphasis or creates a stronger pause. It often sounds more conversational. (I was tired—I still finished my homework.)
In some cases, both can work, but they create a different tone. A semicolon feels more formal, while a dash feels more expressive.
Hope this helps :)
