why do people say “gonna” instead of “going to”?
I keep hearing people say “gonna” in movies and videos. I know it comes from “going to,” but is it actually correct English? Should learners use it when speaking, or is it better to avoid it?

Yeah, it’s basically just a relaxed pronunciation of “going to.” I wouldn’t use it in formal writing though.
It’s very common in spoken English. Native speakers say it all the time in casual conversations.
