English Trivia Quiz
Five mixed-skill English questions in 90 seconds. Vocab, grammar, idioms, culture in one round.
About English Trivia Quiz
English Trivia Quiz is a free fast-paced mixed-topic English quiz for ESL learners. Each round serves five English questions on a 90-second timer with four answer options each. The trick is that the questions are mixed across categories — vocabulary meanings, grammar rules, spelling traps, idioms, phrasal verbs, and English-speaking culture facts — so every round tests breadth, not depth. Correct answers earn points, faster answers earn more, and answering correctly in a row builds a combo multiplier for chasing a personal best score.
The mixed format is deliberate. Most English study tools drill one skill at a time, but real-life English (and real exams) test all of them simultaneously, jumping between vocabulary, grammar and reading without warning — and that switching cost is real. English Trivia Quiz trains that mental flexibility directly, which is one of the hardest skills for ESL learners to build. The question pool currently has 60+ items covering A2 to C1 difficulty, drawn from the 7ESL question bank used across teaching articles.
After every answer the game shows a short plain-English explanation of why the right option is right, so each round teaches even when you guess. Suits B1 to C1 learners building well-rounded English knowledge, IELTS and TOEFL candidates wanting mixed-skill practice, and teachers running a high-energy classroom warm-up to keep the room alert. Free to play, no sign-up needed.

Frequently asked questions
How does English Trivia Quiz work?
Each round serves five English questions on a 90-second timer. Each question has four options — tap the one you think is correct. Faster answers earn more points. Answering correctly in a row builds a combo multiplier for bonus points. After every answer a short explanation appears so you learn even from wrong guesses. Finish all five before time runs out.
What topics does the quiz cover?
A mix of every major English skill area — vocabulary meanings, grammar rules (tenses, articles, prepositions, conditionals), spelling traps, idioms, phrasal verbs, and English-speaking culture facts. Every round serves a random mix from across these categories, which is what makes it a true trivia game rather than a single-topic drill.
Is this good for IELTS or TOEFL prep?
Yes, for mixed-skill practice. Real IELTS Reading and Listening sections jump between vocabulary, grammar, inference and culture without warning, and the mental switching cost is real. Daily English Trivia Quiz rounds train exactly that switching skill, which is hard to practise with single-topic drills like cloze tests or vocabulary lists alone.
Are explanations provided after each question?
Yes. After every answer the game shows a short plain-English explanation of why the correct option is correct. For grammar questions it names the rule; for vocabulary it gives the definition; for idioms it gives the literal meaning vs the figurative use. That turns each round into structured mixed-skill learning, not just trivia.
Is the quiz free and replayable?
Yes, completely free with no sign-up. The pool of 60+ questions and growing means you can play many rounds without repeating the same items, and the random mix keeps each round feeling fresh. A free 7ESL account only saves your streak and personal best across devices — gameplay is unlimited as a guest.
