Emoji Word Guess
Guess the English word from emoji clues, then spell it from a bank of twelve letters. Ten new words every day for young learners.
About Emoji Word Guess
Emoji Word Guess is a free "4 pics 1 word" game played with emojis, made for young English learners. Each question shows two to four big emojis that all point to the same English word, a row of empty letter boxes, and a bank of twelve letters. Tap letters to fill the boxes, tap a filled box to send that letter back to the bank, and when the last box is filled the answer is checked for you automatically.
There are ten words a day and they get harder as you go. The round is sorted by word length, so short three-letter words come first and the longest ones — up to nine letters — arrive at the end, once your child is warmed up. The day's ten words are also spread across topics, with no more than two words taken from the same category, so a single round can travel from animals to food to weather to school things instead of drilling one narrow theme.
Getting a word right is the fun part. Confetti fires, the word is read aloud with clear text-to-speech, its IPA pronunciation appears underneath, and a short fun fact about the word pops up. Stuck? There are three skips a day, and a skip still reveals the answer with the same audio and IPA, so no question is ever wasted. The end-of-round recap lists all ten puzzles with the emojis, the word, the IPA and a 🔊 button on every row, and awards up to three stars — nine or ten correct earns all three.
The game works because emojis carry meaning without any translation. A child sees 🐘 and has to reach for the English word directly, with no Vietnamese step in the middle, then hears how it sounds, sees how it is spelled, and sees how it is written in IPA. It suits ages five and up, beginner ESL classes, and any parent who wants ten minutes of screen time that genuinely teaches vocabulary. It is free, needs no sign-up, and a brand new set of ten words appears every day.
Why play Emoji Word Guess?
- ✓ Emoji clues teach meaning directly in English, so children never translate in their head first.
- ✓ Building each word letter by letter drills spelling at the same time as vocabulary.
- ✓ Every answer is spoken aloud with its IPA, so kids learn how a word sounds and not only how it looks.
- ✓ Ten short words a day, easiest first, matches how long a young learner can actually concentrate.
How to play
- Look at the emojis on the card — they all point to one English word.

Frequently asked questions
What age is Emoji Word Guess for?
It is designed for children roughly five and up, and for adult beginners too. Every word is a common, concrete noun or everyday word between three and nine letters — animals, food, the home, school things, weather, colours — chosen from the 7ESL kids vocabulary bank. There is no reading of long instructions and no timer, so a child who cannot yet read a full sentence can still play by tapping letters.
How many words are there each day, and do they get harder?
Ten words per day, and yes, they get harder as you play. The set is sorted by word length, so the first questions are three or four letters and the last ones can be up to nine. The ten words are also chosen to cover different topics — at most two words from any single category — so each round mixes animals, food, weather and everyday objects rather than repeating one theme.
What happens if my child gets stuck on a word?
There are three skips per day. Pressing Skip reveals the word with the same reward as a correct answer: the word is spoken aloud, the IPA is shown, and the fun fact appears, so a hard word still becomes a learning moment. Wrong letter combinations do not cost anything either — the game just says "not quite" and you can tap a box to change a letter and try again.
Does the game teach pronunciation as well as spelling?
Yes. Every time a word is revealed, whether you solved it or skipped it, the built-in text-to-speech reads it out clearly and the IPA transcription appears with it. On the final recap screen each of the ten words has its own 🔊 button, so a child can go back and listen to any word again as many times as they like. That pairing of sound, spelling and symbol is what makes new words stick.
Is Emoji Word Guess free and does it need an account?
It is completely free with no sign-up — just open the page and start tapping. It runs in any modern browser on a phone, tablet or computer, and nothing needs to be installed. Signing in is optional and only saves stars, stickers and XP across devices. A new set of ten emoji puzzles appears automatically every day, so there is always something new to come back to.
