Picture Match
See a big friendly picture, then pick the matching English word. Ten cheerful rounds — a perfect first vocabulary game for ages 4-9.
About Picture Match
Picture Match is a free picture-to-word matching game made for young children who are just starting to learn English. In every round, a big friendly picture appears in the middle of the screen — a cat, an apple, a bus — and your child picks the matching English word from three large, easy-to-tap choices. A full game lasts ten rounds, takes only a few minutes, and can be replayed as many times as your child likes.
Because the picture always comes first, the game works even for children who cannot read fluently yet: kids naturally connect the image to the shape and sound of the word, which is exactly how first-language vocabulary develops. The word list is drawn from the most common Pre-A1 and A1 English nouns — animals, food, toys, colours and everyday objects — so everything your child meets in the game will appear again in storybooks, classroom lessons and daily life. Cheerful colours and an encouraging message after every answer keep the experience positive; there are no penalties, no pressuring timers for young players, and no ads inside the game.
Picture Match suits children aged roughly four to nine, and it is equally useful at home with a parent or on a classroom whiteboard as a warm-up activity. No sign-up is needed — just open the page and play.

Frequently asked questions
What age is Picture Match for?
Picture Match is designed for children roughly four to nine years old who are starting English. Four- and five-year-olds usually play with a parent or teacher saying the words aloud, while six- to nine-year-olds can play on their own. Older complete beginners enjoy it too as a no-pressure vocabulary warm-up.
Is Picture Match free to play?
Yes, completely. There are no ads inside the game, no paywall and no premium version. Your child can play as a guest without any account — nothing to download and nothing to sign up for. Logging in to 7ESL is optional and only adds XP tracking for older players.
Does my child need to be able to read?
No. The big picture always comes first, and the three answer words are short Pre-A1 nouns like cat, sun and ball. Pre-readers can play with an adult reading the choices aloud; in fact, matching pictures to written words is one of the gentlest ways children begin to read English.
Is there a daily limit like the word puzzles?
No. Unlike Daily Word Quest and the other daily puzzles on 7ESL, Picture Match has no daily challenge and no lockout. Every new game shuffles a fresh set of ten picture-word rounds, so children can replay it as many times as they like, every day.
What vocabulary does Picture Match teach?
The pool covers the most common Pre-A1 and A1 English nouns: animals (cat, dog, fish), food (apple, banana, milk), everyday objects (book, ball, bus), nature words (sun, star, tree) and more. These are the same first words children meet in early picture dictionaries and young-learner coursebooks.
