About Pronunciation Battle
Pronunciation Battle is the scored mode that pulls the whole hub together. Ten mixed rounds draw from the brand, name and spelling games and stack a competitive layer on top: every correct answer extends your streak and adds XP, your level rises as you score, and a clean run is its own reward. Miss one and the streak resets — but every wrong answer is saved to a review list you see at the end, so the game teaches even as it tests.
Because the rounds mix listening, choosing and recognising, the Battle trains several skills at once and never feels repetitive. You can choose a category to focus on — brands, names, or spelling — or take the full mix for the toughest test. Scoring is server-authoritative: nothing your browser reports is trusted, so a score is a real score.
The teaching happens in the feedback. Every answer opens up the full pronunciation of the item — the plain-English respelling, the syllable break so you can see where the stress falls, the IPA where the entry carries one, and, for the brands, the specific mistake people usually make with it. At the end of the battle that same detail is collected into a review list of everything you missed, so you leave with the corrections rather than just the number.
Play as often as you like; every battle reshuffles. It suits learners who want a goal-driven challenge, anyone chasing a high streak, and teachers running a quick class competition. Free to play, no sign-up needed.

Frequently asked questions
What is in a Pronunciation Battle?
Ten mixed rounds drawn from the brand, name and spelling games, with a scoring layer on top: streak, XP and level. You can pick a single category or take the full mix.
What happens when I get one wrong?
Your streak resets to zero, but nothing else is lost: the correct pronunciation opens up straight away — respelling, syllable break, IPA where the entry has one, and for brands the mistake people usually make — and the item goes onto a review list. At the end of the battle you see every answer you missed alongside that detail, so the mistakes turn into learning.
Can I choose what to practise?
Yes. Before the battle you pick a category — brands, names or spelling — or choose the full mix for the hardest test.
Is it good for ESL learners?
Yes. The mixed format trains several skills at once and the streak and XP loop keeps motivation high, while the end-of-game review ensures you learn from every miss. Note that IPA appears where the underlying entry carries one — the brand and spelling items do, the name items are respelling and syllables only, because no IPA is invented for a name that has none on file.
Is it free?
Yes, completely free with no ads in the game and no sign-up. Sign in to save your XP, streak and level across devices.
