The 7ESL Quiz Generator writes ready-to-use quizzes in two modes. Paste a reading passage and it writes comprehension questions that can only be answered from that text — covering the whole passage, mixing literal and inferential questions, and quoting the evidence in each explanation. Or just type a topic ("past simple", "the solar system") and it writes level-appropriate knowledge questions. Choose multiple choice, true/false or a mix, from 5 to 20 questions, at CEFR levels A1 to C1. The generator is part of the 7ESL AI teacher suite, available with a Pro account.

How to use the Quiz Generator

Paste your text or type your topic, choose the number and type of questions and the level, and press Generate. On screen you can toggle the answers on and off — correct options highlight in green with an explanation under each question — which makes the tool usable for live revision as well as for preparing tests. For paper, print the quiz alone for students, or print it with the answer key on a separate page for yourself.

Question quality

Multiple-choice questions always have four options with one clearly correct answer and three plausible distractors of the same kind and similar length — no joke options and no "all of the above", the two habits that make homemade quizzes easy to game. Correct answers are spread across positions so students cannot pattern-guess. Every question carries an explanation: for passage quizzes it points to the sentence that proves the answer, which turns marking into a teaching moment. Review the questions before class as you would any material — AI occasionally writes an ambiguous item, and you know your class best.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between pasting a passage and typing a topic?

A pasted passage produces reading-comprehension questions answerable only from that text, with the evidence quoted in each explanation. A short topic produces general knowledge questions about it at your chosen level.

What question types can it write?

Multiple choice (4 options, one correct, plausible distractors), true/false, or a mix of both. You choose 5, 10, 15 or 20 questions.

Can I print the quiz for class?

Yes — "Print quiz" gives a clean student sheet with a name line, and "Print with key" adds the answer key with explanations on a separate page.

How long can the passage be?

Up to 1,200 words. For longer texts, split them into sections and generate a quiz per section.

Do I need an account to use it?

Yes. The Quiz Generator is part of the 7ESL AI teacher suite, available to signed-in users on the Pro plan.
