At A1 a page grows from one sentence to two or three short ones. Stories use the present and simple past, everyday words and a small cast of characters who speak to each other. Information books name things, show how they work and add simple labels to the pictures.
Each book follows the same three steps: listen to the whole book with the words highlighted, read it yourself and tap any word you do not know, then take the quiz to check you understood. Small steps between levels mean a learner is never asked to jump.
The ages and grades are a guide to how hard the reading is, matched to what children at school read in English. Learners of any age can read at any level.
What the 30 books at A1 are about: animals (6), plants & gardens (6), school & everyday life (3), earth, water & weather (3), materials, forces & energy (2), and 9 more topics.
