Kindergarten books sit at levels R1–R4. The first books name one thing a page – "The egg." – and repeat the same pattern, so a child can read the whole book after hearing it once. The last ones add a friendly verb and one word that changes from page to page: "The dog can run. The duck can swim."
The grades are a guide, matched to the levels children read at school in the US (R1–R4 on the 7ESL ladder). Children read at different speeds, so start where the quiz feels comfortable and move up one level at a time. Older beginners and adult learners use the same books.
What the 68 books for kindergarten are about: animals (13), food & cooking (8), school & everyday life (6), earth, water & weather (6), maths & measuring (5), and 12 more topics.
