How to generate a spelling list
Pick your word source. From the dictionary: choose a CEFR level and how many words you want (10 to 25), and the generator samples appropriate words at that level: common, classroom-friendly vocabulary rather than obscure dictionary corners. My own words: paste this week's list and the tool formats it the same way. Either way you get a numbered list to review on screen, a Copy button to paste the list into a lesson plan, and a print view formatted as a Look, Say, Cover, Write, Check sheet: the word on the left, then three ruled columns for practice attempts.
Why Look, Say, Cover, Write, Check works
The LSCWC routine is a classroom standard because it converts passive looking into active recall. The student studies the word, says it aloud (linking spelling to sound), covers it, writes it from memory, then immediately checks and corrects. The three practice columns on the printed sheet support exactly this cycle, repeated three times per word, and the immediate self-check after each attempt is what cements the correct spelling rather than rehearsing a mistake.
Choosing the right level
The CEFR levels map naturally onto spelling ability: A1 and A2 supply short, high-frequency words for beginners and young learners; B1 and B2 bring in the everyday academic vocabulary where English spelling gets genuinely tricky; C1 and C2 produce challenge lists for advanced students and spelling-bee preparation.
