Word Bingo
Match English words to short definition clues on a 5×5 grid. Five marks in a line = BINGO.
About Word Bingo
Word Bingo is a free vocabulary recognition game built for ESL learners. You start with a 5×5 grid of twenty-five English words drawn from an A1 to B1 pool, and the game reads out a clue — a short definition or synonym for one of the words on the grid. Your job is to tap the word that matches. A correct tap marks that cell green.
Hit five marked cells in a row, column, or diagonal and you score a BINGO with a bonus five points and an instant win. If you do not bingo in ten clues, your final score is the number of marks you collected. The mechanic drills two ESL micro-skills at once: scanning a board of vocabulary at a glance, and mapping a plain-English definition back to the right word. Both are exactly what a classroom warm-up tries to do, condensed into a three-minute round you can play on your phone.
The grid is the same for every player worldwide each UTC day, regenerated at midnight, so you can compare scores honestly with classmates. The word pool blends ten common A1 adjectives (happy, sad, big, small, fast, slow), fifteen everyday A2 words (angry, tired, clever, quiet, generous), and fifteen B1 words you might meet at intermediate level (enormous, brave, polite, curious, modern). Every clue is dictionary-backed: a short, learner-friendly definition with the CEFR tag visible above the grid.
There is no sign-up to play. Create a free 7ESL account if you want your bingo wins to count toward a streak across devices. Word Bingo suits A2 to B1 learners, ESL classroom warm-ups, and anyone who wants a fast vocabulary checkup that does not feel like a quiz.

Frequently asked questions
How do I play Word Bingo on 7ESL?
When the page loads you see a 5×5 grid of twenty-five English vocabulary words. The top banner shows your first clue — a short definition or synonym for one of the words on the grid. Read the clue, then tap the matching word. If you are right, that cell turns green and the next clue appears. If you are wrong, the cell flashes red and you move on to the next clue without a mark. You get ten clues per round. Five green cells in a row, column, or diagonal scores a BINGO and ends the round with a bonus.
How is the score calculated?
You score one point for every correct match — every green cell. If you complete a bingo line (five marks in a row, column, or one of the two diagonals) you get an additional five-point bonus and the round ends instantly. If you reach the end of all ten clues without a bingo, your final score is just the number of green marks. Skipping a clue does not award a point and does not mark a cell. Server-side bingo detection means the game checks the actual mark pattern after every correct answer.
What vocabulary level is Word Bingo?
The word pool covers CEFR A1, A2, and B1 — beginner to lower intermediate. Ten words are A1 (happy, sad, big, small, fast, slow, cold, hot, old, new), fifteen are A2 (angry, tired, bright, quiet, noisy, clever, easy, hard, cheap, rich, empty, heavy, light, kind, lazy), and fifteen are B1 (enormous, tiny, brave, shy, gentle, rough, polite, rude, honest, generous, curious, silent, clumsy, patient, modern). Each clue shows the CEFR tag above the grid so you know how hard the current item is.
Is the grid the same for every player?
Yes. Word Bingo uses a deterministic daily seed, so every player worldwide gets the exact same twenty-five words in the same positions on the same UTC date, with the same ten clues in the same order. The grid and clue list refresh at 00:00 UTC each day. That makes the round directly comparable between friends — share the date and your bingo result and you have a fair benchmark, just like Wordle or Connections.
Can I play Word Bingo on mobile?
Yes. Word Bingo is mobile-first. Every grid cell is a 44-pixel touch target (the WCAG minimum), and the 5×5 layout scales to fit a phone in portrait without horizontal scroll. The clue banner reads out the current definition above the grid so you can re-read it any time, and a Skip button below the grid moves on if you really do not know. The status line uses aria-live so screen readers announce correct and incorrect feedback.
